On-Site Shed Construction Process

Install Wall Sections
At Sunrise Structures, the installation of your new garage or shed begins with carefully assembling the walls on your concrete foundation. To ensure a smooth, efficient, and professional setup, our team preassembles all wall sections at our shop before arriving at your property. This streamlined process not only saves time on installation day but also guarantees precision and quality in every build.

Complete the Roof
The second step in our on-site construction process is completing the roof of your shed or garage. During this stage, our experienced team carefully sets the trusses, installs the roof sheeting, and finishes the structure with your choice of durable metal roofing or traditional asphalt shingles. This step not only provides protection from the elements but also adds strength, longevity, and curb appeal to your new building.

Finishing Touches
The final step of the on-site construction process is completing all the finishing touches that make your shed or garage both functional and attractive. This includes installing trim, painting, and setting doors and windows. Once these details are complete, your new structure is fully finished and ready to provide reliable use, storage, and value for many years to come.
Shed Delivery FAQs
How Much Does Shed Delivery Typically Cost?
Shed delivery is free if you are located within 100 miles of our manufacturing facility! We are in Rochester, Indiana, and we are more than happy to help our neighbors out with free shed delivery! Beyond that 100 miles, we charge a reasonable $8 per mile fee for delivery.
How Long Does it Take for A Shed To Be Delivered?
After you’ve designed and ordered your shed, we start building and planning for delivery right away. Depending on the time of year and your location, delivery typically takes 4–8 weeks. Delivery is much quicker for pre-built sheds from our inventory, as they’re already constructed and ready for site prep and installation.
What Size Sheds Can Sunrise Structures Deliver?
We deliver and install a wide variety of shed sizes, from compact 8×10 sheds to spacious 16×52 structures. If you have concerns about the size fitting into your yard, we recommend consulting with our team during the ordering process. We can help assess your property and determine the best options for your needs.
Do I Need a Permit for My Shed?
In most cases, you will need a permit for your shed. Permit requirements vary depending on your location, so we recommend checking with your local zoning office before scheduling delivery. In many areas, smaller sheds may not require permits, but larger structures or sheds with utilities will need approval.
For information about the laws in Indiana and Michigan view our blogs on shed permits in Indiana and Michigan. Check local ordinances for setback and permit requirements.
Can My Shed Be Delivered on a Sloped Yard?
Yes, we can install sheds on most sloped yards, but the degree of slope matters. Maintain communication with us during the ordering and delivery process, and we will plan accordingly.
What Happens If My Shed Is Damaged During Delivery?
At Sunrise Structures, we take every precaution to ensure a safe and damage-free delivery. However, if any damage to your shed occurs during the process, our team will address it immediately and make necessary repairs. Check out our 10-year “Total Trust” Limited Warranty for a full understanding of what we cover.
Is Maintenance Required for My Shed After Installation?
Minimal maintenance is needed for Sunrise Structures sheds! To extend the life of your shed, we recommend regularly inspecting your structure for signs of damage and promptly fixing them. This is especially important around the foundation to look for cracks, settling, and to ensure proper water drainage is maintained around the shed.
What To Expect Before Shed Delivery?
Shed delivery can feel daunting; that’s why we’re here to make the process smooth and stress-free. Let us assure you—we take a great deal of care in building, delivering, and installing your new outdoor structure from Sunrise Structures. With our experienced team and specialized equipment, you don’t have to worry about your yard or landscaping getting in the way of your beautiful new shed!
What Should I Do Before You Arrive With My New Shed?
Before we deliver your shed, it’s important to clear a path in your yard so that our team, your shed, and our shed mule can access the spot where you intend to place your shed. Make sure there is a path free of fences, wires, branches, lawn ornaments, and other potential barriers! A clear path means fewer delays and ensures the safety of our team, equipment, and your shed.
If your new shed site or path to access it is close to a neighbor’s home or yard, it’s probably a good idea to give them a heads-up that we will be in your yard for shed installation.
What Should I Expect From Sunrise Before My Shed Delivery?
Open communication is a priority for us. You’ll be notified at key milestones—when we begin building your shed, when construction is complete, and when to expect delivery. Before your shed delivery day, our team will reach out with a scheduled day and time so you’ll know exactly when to expect your new structure.
